Epiphyllum ‘Frühling’s Gold’ is a splendid variety of epiphytic cactus with large and striking flowers, part of the Cactaceae family, also known as “orchid cactus” due to its exotic, brightly colored flowers. It is a highly valued hybrid for its warm golden-yellow shade, abundant blooming, and elegant habit, suitable for hanging pots and bright indoor spaces.

🔹 Botanical characteristics:

Habit: Epiphytic or semi-epiphytic plant, with long, flattened, spineless stems that grow arching or trailing. Ideal for cultivation in hanging pots or tall planters.

Stems (cladodes): Broad, green, flat, with slightly notched or wavy edges. They can reach lengths of 50–100 cm or more over time.

Flowers: Large, about 15–18 cm in diameter, shaped like an open cup. The color is bright golden-yellow, sometimes with slightly orange tones towards the center. The flowers are short-lived (lasting 1–2 days) but extremely spectacular. Blooming occurs in spring (Frühling = spring, in German), sometimes also in waves during summer.

Scent: some specimens may have a slightly sweet scent, but this is not a constant rule.

🔹 Recommended growing conditions:

Light: Prefers strong indirect light. Tolerates gentle morning sun but must be protected from scorching during peak hours.

Soil: Aerated and well-drained – ideally a mix for epiphytic orchids or a blend of peat, crushed bark, perlite, and leaf mold.

Watering: Moderate. The soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings. Watering is significantly reduced in winter. Excess water can lead to root rot.

Humidity: Medium to high. Adapts well to dry indoor air if placed away from direct heat sources.

Temperature: Grows well in warm environments. Does not tolerate cold or frost. Minimum recommended temperature: above 10°C.

Fertilizing: From March to September, apply a liquid fertilizer for flowering plants every 3–4 weeks.

NoteEpiphyllum is a succulent plant with flat foliage, sensitive to knocks and scratches. Some leaves may show small scars, spots, or aesthetic defects that appeared during growth or transport. These imperfections do not affect the plant’s health and are not grounds for complaint – the plant is perfectly viable and continues to develop normally.
The plant is sold without flowers!
