The Paphiopedilum Black Jack orchid is the perfect choice for those who prefer warm and dark colors. It is an extraordinarily spectacular Paphiopedilum; its red/purple color and shape make it a collector’s orchid.
The well-known Paphiopedilum “Black Jack” is actually a variety of Paphiopedilum maudiae, which in turn is a first-generation hybrid obtained by crossing the species Paphiopedilum callosum (seed parent) and Paphiopedilum lawrenceanum (pollen parent). This indicates that the care requirements for Black Jack are similar to those for other horticultural varieties of Maudiae, such as vinicolor, femma, or the peloric forms of Black Jack.
Paphiopedilum Black Jack, along with the other Maudiae varieties, is an orchid recommended for beginners, as its cultivation is relatively close to that of the Saintpaulia genus representatives (African violets or Parma violets), popular among gardening enthusiasts. It is common for Black Jack to sometimes produce double flowers simultaneously, reminiscent of Paphiopedilum species with sequential blooming.
Height including pot: approx. 25 cm
Pot diameter: 9 cm
