Hoya bella (Tear of Our Lady)
Hoya bella, popularly known as "The Teardrop of Our Lady" or "Wax Flower". It is an epiphytic botanical species, endemic to Assam and Myanmar.
This plant has thin and flexible, pendulous stems, which can reach up to 1-1.5 meters in length. The leaves are small, fleshy, glossy and deep green in color, having an oval or elongated shape. Hoya bella is especially appreciated for its spectacular, starry flowers, which appear in clusters, with greater frequency in the warm season.
Hoya bella flowers are star-shaped with five petals, about 1-2 cm in diameter, and are white, sometimes with a pink tinge, with a cyclamen-pink center. The flowers emit a sweet fragrance, similar to the scent of vanilla or jasmine, which becomes more intense in the evening.
Hoya bella is an easy-care plant, ideal for growing in pots or hanging baskets. It prefers filtered or partial light, temperatures above 22°C and high humidity. The soil should be well-drained and slightly moist, and watering should be moderate. During the period of active growth, the plant can be fertilized once every two or three weeks with a diluted liquid fertilizer.
