Hoya Australis, native to Indonesia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu, Australia, has glossy green leaves. New shoots may have a red hue.
The flowers of Hoya Australis last for a week and have the most incredible scent, strongly spicy.
Characteristics: Hoya Australis grows and blooms easily when mature. After buds appear, the location should not be changed, as the buds may fall off. It is recommended for beginners because it roots easily in well-draining soil. All varieties of the H. australis group are very decorative, undemanding in care, and bloom well from August to November.
Common names: Our Lady’s Tear, Wax Flower.
