Full description and specifications

Codonanthe crassifolia is a tropical, epiphytic plant, originating from the tropical forests of South America. It is appreciated for its fleshy leaves, oval or lanceolate in shape, which have an intense green color and can have reddish shades at the edges. The flowers are small, white or pale pink, with a more intense yellow or pink center. They appear during spring and summer and are followed by small, red fruits that contain seeds.

Care:

  • Light: Prefer bright places, but away from direct sunlight. Indirect light is ideal.
  • Temperature: The ideal temperature is between 18-25°C. It does not tolerate low temperatures or air currents.
  • Humidity: It likes high humidity. Spraying the leaves with distilled water regularly is beneficial.
  • Substrate: The substrate must be well drained and rich in organic matter. A mixture of peat, perlite and pine bark is ideal.
  • Watering: Water regularly, keeping the substrate slightly moist, but not soaked with water. Between two waterings, the upper layer of the substrate must dry easily.
  • Fertilization: Fertilize once a month, in spring and summer, with a liquid fertilizer for green plants, diluted in watering water.
  • Transplantation: It is transplanted in the spring, once every 2-3 years, in a slightly larger pot.

The plant is sold without flowers.
