Streptocarpus 'Carina'
Streptocarpus ‘Carina’ is a hybrid variety of Streptocarpus, also known as “Cape Primrose”, appreciated for its delicate and attractive flowers. It is ideal as an indoor plant, having a long flowering period and an elegant appearance.
🔹 Botanical characteristics:
• Habit: Perennial, compact plant, with green, velvety and slightly wrinkled leaves, arranged in a rosette at the base.
🔹 Recommended growing conditions:
• Light: Preference for strong indirect light, protected from direct sun.
• Soil: Light, well-drained and rich in organic matter – similar to that used for African violets.
• Watering: Regular, keeping the soil slightly moist. Avoid excess water.
• Temperature: Streptocarpus ‘Carina’ prefers a warm and stable environment, protected from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Exposure to cold or very low temperatures is not recommended, especially in the cold season. It feels best indoors, in a protected and thermally constant space.
• Humidity: Moderate. The pot can be placed on a layer of wet gravel to maintain humidity.
• Fertilization: Every 2 weeks, with diluted liquid fertilizer, during the growing period.
• Propagation: By leaf cuttings or division of the clump, in spring.
• Maintenance: Remove wilted flowers and aged leaves to stimulate continuous flowering.
Streptocarpus ‘Carina’ is an excellent choice for interior decoration, offering an explosion of color and a refined look with minimal effort. With proper care, it blooms generously and long-term.
