Sansevieria Aubrytniana Metallica
€19,95
Sansevieria aubrytiana 'Metallica' is a gem in the world of air-purifying plants. It stands out clearly from classic Sansevierias through its much wider, imposing leaves and its fascinating color: a light gray-green with fine streaks and a silvery metallic shine. It is an architectural plant, perfect for modern, minimalist, or industrial interiors.
🌿 Botanical features:
-
Genus: Sansevieria (recently reclassified into the genus Dracaena)
-
Family: Asparagaceae
-
Appearance: Wide, stiff leaves that grow vertically (sword-shaped); unlike other varieties, 'Metallica' has a "dusty" or silvery look, very elegant
-
Growth: It is a sturdy variety that can reach considerable heights over time, forming a dense and striking clump
-
Rarity: It is a species less commonly found in trade than the classic Laurentii
☀️ Growing conditions:
-
Light: It is extremely adaptable. Although it prefers strong, indirect light (which enhances its silvery shades), it also tolerates well shaded or low-light spots inside the home
-
Watering: Very rare! It is a succulent plant that stores water in its leaves. Water only when the soil is completely dry (in summer every 2-3 weeks, in winter possibly once a month or less). Excess water is the only thing that can kill it
-
Temperature: It feels well at room temperatures; protect it from cold (below 10°C)
-
Soil: Requires a very well-drained substrate (mix for cacti and succulents)
💚 Benefits and uses:
-
Top purifier: Sansevieria is renowned for its ability to filter toxins from the air and produce oxygen, making it ideal for bedrooms
-
"Iron" plant: Ideal for beginners or those who travel often, as it can go a long time without water
-
Design: Its light color offers a beautiful contrast when placed next to plants with dark green foliage or in black/charcoal pots
Mechanical imperfections: Sansevieria leaves may show small scars, dry tips, or superficial cracks. These are normal signs of growth or handling and, once they appear, do not heal, but they give the plant character and do not affect its health.
