Paphiopedilum maudiae 'Black Jack'

Paphiopedilum Black Jack Orchid is the perfect choice for those who prefer warm, dark colors. It is an exceptionally spectacular Paphiopedilum; its red-purple color and shape make it a collector's orchid.
The well-known Paphiopedilum “Black Jack” is actually a variety of Paphiopedilum maudiae, itself a first-generation hybrid obtained by crossing the species Paphiopedilum callosum (seed parent) and Paphiopedilum lawrenceanum (pollen parent). This means that Black Jack has care requirements similar to those of the other horticultural varieties of Maudiae, such as vinicolor, femma, or Black Jack pelorics.
Paphiopedilum Black Jack, along with the other Maudiae varieties, is an orchid recommended for beginners, as its cultivation is relatively similar to that of members of the Saintpaulia genus (African violets, or Parma violets), which are popular among horticulture enthusiasts. Black Jack can often produce two flowers simultaneously, reminiscent of sequentially blooming Paphiopedilum species.
