Hoya Australis, native to Indonesia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Australia, has glossy green leaves. New shoots may have a red hue.
The flowers of Hoya Australis last for a week and have the most incredible, strongly spicy scent.
Characteristics: Hoya Australis grows and blooms easily when mature. After buds appear, the location should not be changed, as the buds may fall off. It is recommended for beginners because it roots easily in well-draining soil. All varieties of the H. australis group are very decorative, undemanding in care, and bloom well from August to November.
Common names: Our Lady’s Tear, Wax Flower.
Leaf size: length 7-11 cm and width 3-5 cm
Flower diameter: 2 cm
Corona: white with a red center, 20-40 per umbel
Flower duration: about 7 days
Temperature: prefers moderate temperatures, 20-25 degrees Celsius.
Placement: bright area (without direct sunlight), but also grows well in shade
Watering: moderate, avoid water stagnation in the pot. In summer, on hot days, spray the plant as often as possible.
