Full description and specifications

Echinofossulocactus phyllacanthus, also known as Stenocactus phyllacanthus, is a distinctive cactus due to its globular shape and the deep, wavy wrinkles that cover its body. Originally from Mexico, this cactus is known for its multiple ridges, which can create a visual effect similar to a "brain" or water waves.

Adult plants can develop up to 18 ribs, each covered with a series of small white or gray spines. The average height of an Echinofossulocactus phyllacanthus varies between 7 and 15 cm, and the diameter can reach up to 10 cm.

During the flowering period, which is usually spring, this cactus produces light pink or white flowers that grow from the top of the plants. These flowers are quite small, but they are considered attractive.

Like most cacti, Echinofossulocactus phyllacanthus needs sun and well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant, but must be watered regularly during the growing season. In winter, it requires a dormant period with minimal watering.
