Alocasia clypeolata - a botanical species endemic to the Philippines, published in 1999 by the botanist A.Hay.
Alocasia clypeolata is another interesting species from the Araceae family, native to Southeast Asia. It is often also known as "Alocasia Green Shield" due to the shape of its leaves, which resemble a shield or buckler. The leaves are usually a deep green and have a fleshy texture, often with prominent veins.
This tropical plant prefers well-drained soil and a high level of moisture. Like other Alocasias, it grows best in strong indirect light but can tolerate a range of lighting conditions, as long as it is not exposed to strong direct light, which can burn the leaves.
Regarding watering, Alocasia clypeolata prefers the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to avoid the risk of root rot. Fertilizing is recommended during the growing season with a balanced plant food.
Note: Alocasia is a sensitive plant. Therefore, you may receive these plants with some leaf blemishes, but these do not affect the plant’s viability.
Height with pot included approx. 45 cm
