Adromischus Cristatus, also known as "Shell Plant" or "Crested Plant", is an ornamental succulent native to South Africa. This plant is highly valued for its unique, distinctly textured leaves and ease of care.

General characteristics:

  • Leaves: The leaves are fleshy, with a wavy texture along the edges resembling a crest (hence the name "cristatus"). They are gray-green, covered with a fine layer of fuzz, giving them a silky appearance.
  • Stems: The stems are short, thick, and slightly woody at the base, supporting compact rosettes of leaves.
  • Size: It is a small-sized plant, reaching about 10-15 cm in height, making it perfect for small spaces or succulent arrangements.
  • Flowers: Under optimal conditions, it produces small flowers, pale green or pinkish in color, borne on thin stalks.

Care:

Light: Prefers strong, indirect light. It can tolerate a few hours of direct sun but should be protected from excessive midday sun exposure, which can burn the leaves.

Watering: Requires infrequent watering, typical for succulents. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Avoid overwatering, which can cause root rot.

Soil: Prefers well-drained soil, suitable for cacti and succulents. A mix of sand, perlite, and compost is ideal.

Temperature: Tolerates temperatures between 10-30°C but does not withstand severe cold or frost.

Humidity: Does well in dry environments and does not require high humidity.

Fertilizing: Fertilize once every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a fertilizer for cacti.

Height with pot included approx. 12 cm.
