Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' is an impressive variety of Sansevieria, valued for its distinctive and sturdy leaves, making it a popular choice for indoor decoration due to its elegant appearance and easy care.

Care:

  1. Light:

    • Preferences: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' prefers bright, indirect light but can also tolerate partial shade. It can be placed in both sunny spots and areas with partial shade. Exposure to strong light will enhance the leaf coloration.
    • Avoid: Avoid direct exposure to intense sunlight for long periods, as it can cause leaf burns.
  2. Soil:

    • Soil type: Prefers well-drained, sandy or clay soil. A mix designed for cacti or succulents is ideal for Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn'. It is important that the soil does not retain water.
    • Amendments: Add perlite or sand to improve soil drainage.
  3. Watering:

    • Frequency: Watering should be moderate. The plant is drought-resistant and does not require frequent watering. In summer, water the plant when the soil is completely dry. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum.
    • Method: Water the plant at the base, avoiding water accumulation in the center of the leaf rosette.
  4. Temperature:

    • Optimal range: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' prefers temperatures between 18-27°C. It can tolerate lower temperatures but must be protected from frost (below 10°C).
  5. Humidity:

    • Preferences: The plant tolerates dry air well and does not require high humidity. It is suitable for normal indoor climate.
  6. Fertilizing:

    • Type: Fertilize the plant once every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer for indoor plants, diluted to half the recommended concentration.
    • Frequency: Fertilizing is not necessary during the resting period (autumn and winter).
  7. Propagation:

    • Methods: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' is easily propagated by dividing rhizomes or leaf cuttings. Cut a leaf and let it dry for a few days, then plant it in well-drained soil.
  8. Common problems:

    • Diseases: The plant can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered. Ensure the soil is well-drained and the plant does not sit in water.
    • Pests: Check the plant regularly for aphids, red spider mites, and scale insects. Treat promptly if infestations occur.

Due to brittle leaves, this plant may show small defects caused by handling. These do not affect the health or development of the plant.
