Full description and specifications

Philodendron dolichogynium, formerly sp. Macas is a new, spectacular species from the south-east of Ecuador, recently introduced into cultivation.

It produces long and narrow leaves, exceeding 100 cm in length. The petioles are especially elongated, which helps the plant to stretch out to receive the light as it grows as an epiphyte in nature.

This variety has nectar-producing glands on the back of the leaves. The nectar has the role of attracting ants in search of food - thus, the plant gains a supply of chemicals secreted by them, but also takes advantage of the aggressive way in which the ant colonies defend their territory and food source, protecting the philodendron from other harmful insects .

Note: Specimens in stock may have defective leaves.

It has 2-3 leaves.
The decorative bowl is not included in the price.

Height with pots included: approx. 40 cm
