Hoya fuscomarginata is sold under this name, published by N.E. Brown in 1910. The foliage is thick, oval or oval-lanceolate, green, with a subtle silver splash. Flowering photos show waxy umbels that are ochre-yellow or cream, with a pink corona. In our experience, batches labeled fuscomarginata and vitellina have had different foliage. The plant shown in the photo is the one for sale. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage and splash. Mature leaves can become large, firm, and leathery. Irregular silver splashes appear on the green leaf surface; density varies from one leaf to another. The name fuscomarginata refers to brown or bronze margins; on the young plants shown in the gallery, this outline is not yet evident. The pot photos show a young plant with two oval leaves. The flowering photos show a mature plant and do not represent the stage of the plant delivered.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are star-shaped and waxy, grouped in dense umbels. The corolla is ochre-yellow, cream, or yellow-green; the corona is pink. The gallery confirms this combination. The tag indicates that fragrance is present, without promising a particular note or intensity. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The name Hoya fuscomarginata N.E.Br. was published in 1910, with an unknown habitat. We do not correct the title. Differences in foliage between suppliers remain a commercial note, not a demonstrated synonymy.
