Cymbidium Hot Devon ‘Bird of Paradise’ AD/CSA is an exceptional miniature hybrid, resulting from the crossing of Cymbidium Hot Line x Cymbidium devonianum. This award-winning variety draws all eyes with its vibrant bronze-orange peloric flowers, adorned with bold dark red-brown spots on the peloric petals – a spectacular and exotic effect, like a flock of birds of paradise on graceful hanging spikes.

The plant is very compact, with small bulbs and extremely vigorous and fast growth – one of the fastest known cymbidiums. It easily reaches specimen size (clump) and is very floriferous, often blooming several times a year.

Easy to grow and bloom, ideal for beginners or experienced collectors who want something special, compact, and full of charm. A perfect choice for small spaces, balconies, or bright windows, where it adds a touch of tropical elegance throughout its long blooming period.

Main features:

  • Size: miniature, compact, quickly becomes a specimen
  • Flower type: peloric novelty pendant
  • Color: bronze-orange with dark red-brown spots on petals
  • Blooming period: more frequent in spring (possibly also autumn)

Cymbidium Hot Devon ‘Bird of Paradise’ needs a cool period (intermediate-cool) to bloom well, but it is more heat tolerant than most standard cymbidiums.

Summer: tolerates heat well (even 28-32°C during the day) if given partial shade, good ventilation, and increased humidity. It does not suffer like other sensitive orchids.

As a peloric miniature: it is more flexible than larger varieties – it can bloom at temperatures 4-5°C warmer than standard ones, making it more suitable for apartments or warmer climates.

Pot diameter: 14 cm

*Note for flowering plants: The flower stem is fragile and can break easily.
