Cattleya leopoldii - botanical species found in southern Brazil, in coastal forests at altitudes below 100 meters, as a large epiphyte, with 2 or 3 leaves, which grows in warm conditions. It has cylindrical pseudobulbs, slightly thickened towards the top, covered at the base by white sheaths, bearing 2 apical leaves, oblong-elliptic, leathery, with sharp or slightly jagged edges. It blooms in mid-summer, on an erect, racemose inflorescence with 3 to 10 flowers, which is supported by a green sheath on a newly formed pseudobulb. The flowers are strongly scented, waxy and intensely colored.
