Full description and specifications

Nephrolepis, also known as Boston fern or sword fern, is a popular indoor plant due to its dense and beautiful foliage and because it is relatively easy to care for.

Nephrolepis is famous for its ability to purify the air in closed spaces. The room fern needs a bright place and a lot of moisture, in order to develop harmoniously.

Care

Light : Prefers indirect or filtered light, avoiding direct exposure to the sun that can burn the leaves. A position near a window facing north or east is ideal.

Water : The soil should be kept evenly moist, but not soaked. Allow the first few inches of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Water quality is important; Boston ferns can become sensitive to chlorine and fluoride in tap water.

Humidity: This plant loves high humidity, so it is beneficial to spray it regularly or keep it in a well-lit bathroom where the humidity is higher. Using a humidifier or placing the plant on a tray of gravel and water (without the bottom of the pot sitting in water) can also help.

Temperature: Nephrolepis grows best at temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius and must be protected from cold currents and large temperature variations.

Fertilizer: Fertilize the plant once a month with a diluted liquid fertilizer, intended for green plants, during the period of active growth (spring-summer). Reduce fertilization in autumn and winter.

Repotting : Transplant once every 2-3 years, in the spring, to give the plant additional space for growth and fresh soil. Choose a pot with a larger size (1-2 cm larger) and make sure it has adequate drainage holes.
