Full description and specifications

Neoregelia 'Donna' is an ornamental plant from the Bromeliaceae family. It is appreciated for its attractive leaves and for the formation of a central "vessel" in which it collects water, a typical behavior for many bromeliads. The leaves are often dark green, with edges colored in shades of red, pink or orange, depending on light and nutrient conditions. In the center of the plant, the leaves can have a more intense color, usually red or pink, especially during the flowering period.

This plant prefers an indirect but bright light and an environment with high humidity. It does not require a large amount of water and is relatively easy to care for, which makes it popular as an indoor plant. The ideal soil is a well-drained one, usually a mixture of soil, sand and organic materials.

Like other bromeliads, Neoregelia 'Donna' has a "monocarpic" life cycle, meaning it blooms only once before dying. However, the plant usually produces "pups" or "offsets" at the base, which can be separated and replanted to form new plants.

The flowering is generally spectacular, although the flowers themselves are usually small and not very obvious. The emphasis is rather on the color of the leaves around the inflorescence.
