Melocactus maxonii ‘Inermis’ is a rare form of the species Melocactus maxonii, native to Central and South America, valued especially for the absence of spines (inermis = "without spines"). The body is globular, glossy green, marked by well-defined ribs. At maturity, a characteristic cephalium forms at the top – a cylindrical, woolly structure of pinkish-red color, from which small, pink-magenta flowers emerge.
