Maxillaria bolivarensis - a rare botanical species found in Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil in very damp mountain forests at altitudes from 300 to 1200 meters.
It is a small-sized, quite compact species that grows both in warm and cool conditions, epiphytic, with short stems forming ovate, flattened pseudobulbs, partially wrapped at the base by 2 well-developed sheaths. It blooms more frequently in spring and summer on a basal stalk about 12.5 cm long with a single flower, wrapped by several overlapping, pointed bracts.
