Hoya buotii *fragrant (developed specimens)

Hoya buotii is an accepted species, published by Kloppenburg, native to the Philippines. It is an epiphytic vine with elliptical, green foliage, visible veins, and a slightly drooping tip. The flowers are star-shaped, pale yellow, densely hairy, with a cream corona and red center, and are fragrant. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions. Foliage and growth. The leaves are opposite, elliptical, medium to dark green, glossy, with a prominent midrib. They have no splash and no variegation. The stems are flexible, with a vining habit; in the batch photographs, one long stem hangs from the pot. Stem length varies from one specimen to another.

Flowers and fragrance. The gallery includes a reference umbel: star-shaped, pale yellow, densely hairy flowers with a cream corona and dark red center. In horticulture, the diameter is reported at around 2–3 cm, with approximately 8–10 flowers per umbel. The tag and title indicate the presence of fragrance, without promising a specific scent or intensity. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted botanical name is Hoya buotii Kloppenb. The species is native to the Philippines. The epithet honors Inocencio Buot Jr. Hoya halconensis is a separate accepted species with which it has been confused; it is not a synonym. “Wax flower” is the common name for the genus, not an epithet of this species.

The height, including the pot, is approximately 20 cm. The decorative pot is not included in the price.

The species is sensitive to long transport times and large temperature differences. After an extended journey in a box, leaf loss may occur; ordering involves this risk.
