Caladium 'Carolyn Whorton'

Caladium are tropical perennial plants with stunning, multicolored, heart-shaped leaves. Caladium leaves can be magnificent combinations of pink, green, red, and white. Caladiums are easy to care for as houseplants.

Care

1. Light: Caladium prefers bright places, but sheltered from direct sunlight. Too much light can burn the leaves, while lack of light causes the vibrant colors to fade.
2. Watering: This plant needs consistently moist soil, but not waterlogged. Watering should be adjusted according to temperature and humidity, increasing frequency during summer and reducing it in winter.
3. Temperature and humidity: Caladium thrives in high humidity and temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. Avoid exposure to cold drafts or temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius.
4. Fertilizer: Feed the plant once a month during the active growing period (spring-summer) with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer.
5. Soil: Choose soil rich in organic matter with good drainage.

Caladium is very sensitive to transport (especially temperature changes). Therefore, you may receive these plants with some leaf blemishes, but these do not affect the plant’s viability. Under optimal care conditions, new leaves will develop normally.
