Sempervivum Chick Charms ‘Pineapple Paradise’ or hen and chicks plant is a spectacular garden succulent, valued for its compact rosette and intense coloration in shades of red-burgundy to dark maroon. It is part of the Chick Charms series, known for decorative varieties that are very hardy and easy to grow. It is an excellent choice for rock gardens, window boxes, outdoor pots, or succulent arrangements, where it immediately adds contrast and color.

🌱 Botanical characteristics

  • perennial succulent plant, growing in compact rosettes

  • fleshy, pointed leaves arranged symmetrically, with a very neat appearance

  • decorative coloration in intense shades of red, burgundy, or maroon, more pronounced in good light and cooler temperatures

  • produces lateral offsets over time, forming dense and very attractive clusters

  • ideal for rock gardens, covering dry areas, and outdoor decorations

☀️ Growing conditions:

Light: prefers full sun or bright partial shade

Soil: well-drained, nutrient-poor; ideal for sandy or rocky soils

Watering: low – water only when the soil is completely dry

Minimum temperature: tolerates down to approx. -25°C, ideal for gardens in Romania

Advantages and uses

  • intense, very decorative coloration with a special effect in any arrangement

  • excellent for rock gardens, low borders, window boxes, and decorative containers

  • very drought-tolerant and resilient to harsh conditions

  • quickly forms decorative colonies through lateral offsets

  • easy-to-maintain outdoor plant with strong visual impact year-round

📌 Note: Coloration may vary depending on the season, sun exposure, and temperature, with some specimens greener and others more intensely colored. As with most sempervivums, the mother rosette blooms only once in its lifetime, then gradually dries out, being replaced by offsets formed at the base. Small imperfections or dried outer leaves are normal and do not affect the plant’s viability. Cold tolerance: very good; the plant overwinters outdoors and regrows annually. In pots, excellent drainage is recommended and avoiding excess water during the cold season.
