Full description and specifications

Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' is an impressive variety of Sansevieria, appreciated for its distinctive and robust leaves, being a popular choice for interior decoration due to its elegant appearance and easy care.

Care:

  1. The light:

    • Preferences: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' prefers indirect, bright light, but can also tolerate partial shade. It can be placed both in sunny places and in places with partial shade. Exposure to strong light will intensify the color of the leaves.
    • Avoidance: Avoid direct exposure to intense sunlight for long periods, as it can cause burns on the leaves.
  2. Soil:

    • Soil type: I prefer a well-drained, sandy or clayey soil. A potting mix for cacti or succulents is ideal for Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn'. It is important that the soil does not retain water.
    • Amendments: Add perlite or sand to improve soil drainage.
  3. Watering:

    • Frequency: Watering should be moderate. The plant is resistant to drought and does not require frequent watering. During the summer, water the plant when the soil is completely dry. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum.
    • Method: Water the plant at the base, avoiding the accumulation of water in the center of the rosette of leaves.
  4. Temperature:

    • Optimal range: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' prefers temperatures between 18-27°C. It can tolerate lower temperatures, but must be protected from frost (below 10°C).
  5. Moisture:

    • Preferences: The plant tolerates dry air well and does not require high humidity. It is suitable for the usual indoor climate.
  6. Fertilization:

    • Type: Fertilize the plant once every 2-3 months during the growth period (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer for indoor plants, diluted to half the recommended concentration.
    • Frequency: Fertilization is not needed during the rest period (autumn and winter).
  7. Multiplication:

    • Methods: Sansevieria 'Mahanakorn' is easily propagated by dividing the rhizomes or by leaf cuttings. Cut a leaf and let it dry for a few days, then plant it in well-drained soil.
  8. Common problems:

    • Diseases: The plant can be susceptible to root rot if it is excessively watered. Make sure that the soil is well drained and that the plant is not standing in water.
    • Pests: Periodically check the plant for aphids, red spiders and cochineals. Treat promptly if infestations occur.
