Full description and specifications

Philodendron scandens 'Pictus', sometimes known as Philodendron hederaceum 'Pictus' or Philodendron 'Silver', is a popular indoor plant, valued for its decorative leaves and relatively easy care. It is part of the Araceae family and is native to the tropical areas of South America.

Care

  • Light : Prefers indirect, moderate to bright light. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves, while too little light can reduce variegation.
  • Watering : Watering must be regular, keeping the soil evenly moist, but not excessively watered. Let the first 1-2 cm of soil dry before watering again. Avoid stagnation of water in the saucer of the pot.
  • Soil : A well-drained soil mix.
  • Humidity : Being a tropical plant, Philodendron 'Pictus' prefers high humidity. It can benefit from occasional sprays or it can be placed next to a humidifier.
  • Fertilization : Fertilize with a diluted liquid fertilizer for indoor plants, once a month during the period of active growth (spring and summer).
  • Grooming : Periodically clean the leaves of dust to allow the plant to breathe and absorb light efficiently. Cut off any dry or damaged leaves to stimulate growth.

The specimens show the leaves from the base with defects.
