Full description and specifications

Philodendron grandipes is a tropical plant belonging to the Araceae family, native to tropical forest areas. It is recognized for its large, attractive leaves, which can add an exotic accent to the interior decoration.

Philodendron grandipes has glossy, dark green leaves that are large and often heart-shaped or oval, with pointed tips. The leaves are supported by long and thick petioles, which can reach significant lengths. These leaves can grow quite large, sometimes even up to 60 cm in length.

Care Philodendron grandipes requires the following conditions to thrive:

  • Light : Prefers indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause leaf burns, so it is ideal to be placed where the light is filtered through curtains or blinds.
  • Watering : The soil must be kept moist, but not excessively so. It is important to allow the upper layer of the soil to dry between waterings, to avoid rotting of the roots.
  • Temperature : It does well at normal indoor temperatures, between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius, and prefers high humidity. If the air in the house is dry, occasional spraying of the leaves can be useful.
  • Soil : A well-draining mixture for tropical plants is ideal, this may include peat, perlite and vermiculite.
