Full description and specifications

Passiflora caerulea 'Constance Elliott' is an exotic, climbing plant, originally from South America, also known as the passion flower.

Location and light : Passion flower prefers a sunny location, but it also adapts to semi-shade (although the flowering may not be as abundant). It is ideal for gardens, terraces or sunny balconies.

Temperature : Passiflora caerulea is a perennial plant in warm regions, but in areas with harsh winters it will have to be protected or brought indoors. It withstands temperatures down to -5°C, but grows best at temperatures between 20°C and 30°C.

Watering : The Passion Flower must be watered regularly, but without letting the water stagnate. In the hot season it may require daily watering. In winter, reduce watering, allowing the soil to partially dry between waterings.

The soil : Passion flower prefers a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. You can use a mixture of peat improved with sand (or pumice stone, perlite, vermiculite, etc.) to ensure good drainage.

Fertilization : For abundant flowering, it is recommended to apply a fertilizer rich in potassium and phosphorus once a month during the growth period (spring-summer).

Passiflora caerulea 'Constance Elliott' produces fruit, but these are not preferred for human consumption, being quite sour and with little pulp inside. Although the fruits are not toxic, they are often left on the plant for their decorative value rather than consumption.

Height with pots included: approx. 30 cm
Pot diameter: 12-14 cm

Note: In the cold season, the plants have few leaves and are shortened in order to branch.
