Scented geraniums - Scented Geranium 'Isko Fleur' (flower fragrance)
As their name suggests, Scented Geraniums are evergreen perennials that are grown mainly for their fragrant leaves. The perfume is emitted when the leaves are touched or rubbed.
The flowers, although small, have a delicate beauty, from intense red to pale pink. The heights are variable: some grow up to over a meter; others only reach 30 cm.
Trimming the tips can easily help control the height.
Geraniums with fragrant leaves are very tolerant to drought and heat. In the 400 years, 140 varieties were produced with an impressive range of perfumes. These include rose, lime, lemon, nutmeg, peach, cinnamon, eucalyptus, grapefruit, almond ginger, oak, mint, strawberry, coconut and apple. Not surprisingly, many are grown commercially for their oil, which is used by the perfume industry.
