Hoya walliniana

Hoya walliniana is a climbing species with compact foliage, native to Borneo. The small, oval leaves can change from green to reddish or burgundy tones in brighter light, while their coloration and pattern naturally vary from one specimen to another. Under good growing conditions, the plant produces umbels of small, creamy-white, finely pubescent flowers with a pale yellow corona and reddish-brown center. The flowers are fragrant, and the vines can be trained onto a support or left to trail.

Foliage and growth. This species has an epiphytic or lithophytic vine growth habit and produces small, semi-succulent leaves arranged closely along the stems. The foliage may develop darker tones depending on light exposure, and variation between leaves is natural.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are small, creamy-white, and finely pubescent, grouped in umbels. The corona is pale yellow with a reddish-brown center. The flowers are fragrant; the intensity and perception of the fragrance may vary throughout flowering and between specimens.

Botanical identity and origin. Hoya walliniana Kloppenb. & Nyhuus is an accepted botanical name, published in 2003. The species is native to Sabah and Sarawak, in Borneo, where it grows as an epiphyte or lithophyte in a humid tropical biome.

The height, including the pot, is approximately 25 cm. The leaves display natural variation. The decorative pot is not included in the price.
