Hoya kerrii is recognized as a "hoya cactus" - the plant does well with infrequent watering and medium or low atmospheric humidity and is easy to flower. It needs a substrate with good drainage and good light for flowering.
The flowers are a spectacular combination of cream-brick-gold, the color changing as the flower matures and produces nectar. Flower color is also influenced by growing conditions and season. The plant is considered easy to flower.
Due to the appearance of the leaves, the plant received many popular names such as: heart shape hoya, valentine hoya, Sweetheart plant
The plant was named Hoya kerrii in honor of the British botanist Arthur Francis George Kerr, who studied the flora of Thailand for a large part of his life.
