Gymnocalycium stellatum is a species of cactus native to Argentina. It is a small cactus, having a globular shape and reaching heights of approximately 5-10 cm and a similar diameter.

The plant is characterized by its distinctive appearance, having numerous stiff and sharp thorns that cover its body. These thorns can vary in color, from white-yellow to dark brown or even black.

Gymnocalycium stellatum produces small, cup-shaped flowers that can be white, pink or purple. The flowers appear at the top of the cactus and are often accompanied by small hairs, increasing their attractiveness.

This cactus prefers a well-drained growing environment and exposure to direct sunlight. It is resistant to drought and can survive in arid conditions. It is a popular plant in cactus and succulent collections, due to its compact shape and delicate flowers.
