Echinofossulocactus arrigens is a globular cactus, solitary or in clusters, with a diameter of up to 10 cm. It has a blue-green stem, with 10-12 ribs. It has 2-4 radial spines up to 1 cm long and a central spine up to 3 cm long. The flowers are tubular, yellow, up to 5 cm long.

This cactus is originally from Mexico, where it grows in arid areas.

Like most cacti, Echinofossulocactus arrigens prefers well-drained soil and needs moderate watering, which is reduced during the winter dormancy period. It is a plant that adapts well to indoor conditions, as long as strong direct or indirect sunlight is provided.

Synonyms: Echinofossulocactus erectocentrus, Stenocactus multicostatus.
