Dendrobium lasianthera is a large epiphytic orchid endemic to the lowland forests of Papua and New Guinea, found at altitudes below 100 meters. This species prefers a warm and humid climate, often found in low, moist, and wet areas, frequently near rivers and streams.

Morphological characteristics:

Stems: The stems are erect, cylindrical, and can reach considerable heights, sometimes up to 2-3 meters.

Leaves: The leaves are elliptical, leathery, and arranged alternately along the stem, remaining on the plant throughout the year.

Flowers: The flowers are spectacular, about 6.25 cm in diameter, grouped in inflorescences of 10 to 30 flowers.
