Full description and specifications

Cylindropuntia miquelli is a succulent plant that belongs to the genus Cylindropuntia, known for its robust and tough appearance. This cactus is native to the desert regions of North America, especially Mexico and the southwestern United States, and is well adapted to drought conditions and poor soils.

Care:

Light: Cylindropuntia miquelli prefers direct sunlight. The plant must be placed in a place where it can receive at least 6 hours of sun per day.

Soil type: The plant prefers a well-drained, sandy or stony soil, specific to deserts. A potting mix for cacti or succulents, combined with coarse sand or gravel, is ideal to prevent excessive water retention.

Watering: Watering must be very moderate. During the period of active growth (spring and summer), water the plant rarely, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum, because the plant enters the rest period.

Temperature: Cylindropuntia miquelli prefers high temperatures and can tolerate temperatures up to 40°C. It is resistant to cold and can withstand low temperatures, up to approximately -5°C, if the soil is well drained.

Humidity: The plant prefers a dry and well-ventilated environment. Avoid high humidity, which can promote the development of fungal diseases and stem rot.

Fertilization: Fertilize the plant once a month during the period of active growth (spring and summer) with a diluted liquid fertilizer for cacti and succulents. During the rest period (autumn and winter), fertilization is not necessary.

Propagation: Cylindropuntia miquelli is easily propagated by stem cuttings. Cut stem segments and let them dry for a few days to callus, then plant them in well-drained soil. Make sure that the cuttings are planted in a vertical position, with the lower part in the soil.
