Tulipa 'Giuseppe Verdi' is a dwarf variety of botanical tulip, part of the Kaufmanniana group, known for its very early flowering and its intense yellow flowers with red edges , which open wide in the sun. It is ideal for spring gardens, low borders, rockeries or pots.
🔹 Botanical characteristics:
• Habit: Small plant, approximately 15–20 cm tall, perfect for compact spaces and natural settings.
• Leaves: Broad, flat, blue-green , often with purple stripes or spots – characteristic of kaufmanniana tulips.
• Flowers: Bright yellow with bright red edges , star-shaped when fully open. The petals are large, glossy and open wide in the sunlight, showing the interior. Flowering occurs very early , in March–April, being among the first flowers of spring.
🔹 Recommended growing conditions:
• Light: Prefers full sun , but tolerates partial shade.
• Soil: Well drained, loose, sandy or slightly calcareous. It does not tolerate heavy and wet soil.
• Planting: Autumn, at a depth of 8–10 cm and a distance of 10–15 cm between bulbs.
Planted in the garden, tulips will follow their normal spring cycle and bloom in a few weeks, depending on the temperature and planting period.
Kept indoors, tulips will benefit from a sharp development, growing and even blooming in just a few days. This phenomenon occurs due to the high temperatures in the home - let's not forget that they are spring plants and normal development occurs in low temperature conditions.
• Watering: Reduced. Does not require additional watering in the garden, except in case of prolonged drought.
🔹 Usage:
• Ideal for low borders, rockeries, pots and mass plantings
• Combines beautifully with other early flowers, such as crocus, muscari or other dwarf tulips
• It naturalizes easily, returning year after year with early flowering.
