Aspidistra elatior (Cast Iron Plant)

Aspidistra elatior fully deserves the common name "Iron Plant". It is extremely resilient and has a wonderful ability to thrive with minimal care. Because it can also withstand pollution, it has been given another common name: "Bar-Room Plant". 

With attractive and lush leaves, Aspidistra elatior is the only subspecies grown as a houseplant. 

From spring to autumn, Aspidistra can also be placed in a sheltered spot in the garden, on the terrace, or on the balcony, but it must be moved indoors before the first frost.

Aspidistra elatior prefers an airy substrate that provides medium water retention. Watering should be moderate, when the substrate is almost completely dry. Soil quality will make an essential contribution to the plant's healthy and vigorous growth.
