Anthurium David Portilla 'Dreams' is a collector’s hybrid resulting from Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium luxurians. The dark green leaves combine the pronounced texture inherited from luxurians with contrasting veins and a graphic silhouette. This is a foliage plant whose details become more pronounced as it matures.

In young specimens, the leaves are smaller, while the texture and vein contrast gradually become more pronounced after acclimatization and as new leaves emerge. Each plant is a living specimen, and the leaf shape may vary slightly within the normal range for this hybrid.

Characteristics

  • Name: Anthurium David Portilla 'Dreams'
  • Family: Araceae
  • Horticultural hybrid: Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium luxurians
  • Dark green, textured leaves with raised veins
  • Tropical foliage plant
  • Moderate growth; its appearance becomes more pronounced as it matures

Light and temperature

It prefers bright, filtered light, without strong direct sunlight. Place the plant near a bright window, protected from midday rays. It does well at 20-28°C, away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Watering and humidity

Water when the top 2-3 cm of the substrate has dried out, then allow excess water to drain completely. Do not leave the pot standing in water, and do not allow the substrate to remain completely dry for long periods. Humidity of approximately 60-75% helps new leaves unfurl evenly; also maintain gentle air circulation.

Substrate and fertilizing

The roots need a very airy mix with good drainage and a moderate capacity to retain moisture. Repot when the roots have filled the pot well or when the substrate no longer drains properly. For a ready-made mix, you can use Professional Substrate for Anthurium, Hoya, Bromeliads and Ferns - SG Mix.

During the growing season, fertilize every 2-4 waterings with a complete fertilizer diluted according to the product instructions. If the substrate remains in the same pot for a long time, occasionally flush it with plain water to reduce salt buildup.

What to watch for

A new leaf that unfurls slowly usually indicates air that is too dry, irregular watering, or drafts. If a soft spot appears and spreads, immediately check the drainage and the condition of the roots. Slower growth with firm leaves is normal during periods of low light or while the plant is acclimatizing.

Note: The plant is shipped in an 8 cm pot. The photographs show the product’s general appearance; the number of leaves, size, degree of texture, and minor aesthetic characteristics naturally vary. Fine handling or transport marks may appear on the velvety leaves without affecting the plant’s health or development.
