Anthurium 'Baby Purple' is a compact and elegant Anthurium variety, appreciated for its glossy, dark green foliage and intensely colored inflorescences in shades ranging from magenta-purple to purplish violet. The contrast between the lush leaves and colorful flowers gives it an exceptional decorative appearance throughout the year.

What we commonly call a “flower” is actually the colored spathe, at the center of which is the spadix—the true inflorescence. In 'Baby Purple', the spathes may naturally vary in color, from intense magenta and pink-violet to deeper purplish tones.

🌿 Characteristics

  • Name: Anthurium 'Baby Purple'
  • Family: Araceae
  • Type: perennial tropical plant, decorative for its leaves and flowers
  • Growth habit: compact, dense
  • Leaves: green, glossy, with a tropical appearance
  • Flowers/spathes: magenta-purple, pink-violet to purplish
  • Spadix: predominantly violet-lilac, with a shade that varies according to maturity
  • Flowering: may bloom repeatedly throughout the year under favorable conditions
  • Suitable for indoor cultivation

☀️ Growing conditions and care

  • Light: prefers bright, indirect light. Good light encourages flowering and helps maintain a compact growth habit. Strong direct sunlight can cause burns on the leaves and spathes.
  • Watering: moderate. Water when the upper layer of the substrate begins to dry out. Avoid keeping the substrate permanently wet and allowing water to stagnate around the roots.
  • Humidity: prefers medium to high atmospheric humidity, but also needs good air circulation.
  • Temperature: ideally approximately 18-28°C. Protect from low temperatures, cold drafts, and sudden temperature changes.
  • Fertilization: during active growth, a fertilizer for tropical plants may be applied periodically at a moderate dose.
  • Repotting: repot when the roots fill the pot, using a container only slightly larger and an airy substrate.

✨ What makes it special

'Baby Purple' combines a compact growth habit with highly decorative flowering, making it easy to integrate even into smaller spaces. Its spathes stand out through their unusual palette of magenta-purple and purplish violet, and the shade may subtly change as the inflorescences mature.

The glossy, dark green foliage remains decorative even between flowering periods, allowing the plant to maintain its tropical appearance throughout the year.

📌 Note

The flower color may naturally vary from magenta and pink-violet to purplish, depending on the maturity of the inflorescence, light, temperature, and growing conditions. The photographs are for reference, and color intensity may differ from one specimen or batch to another.

The plant is sold for the characteristics of the variety and may be delivered with a variable number of flowers and buds, depending on the development stage of the available batch. Anthurium flowers and buds are sensitive to handling, transport, and changes in environmental conditions and may become damaged or fall off after shipping. The leaves may show small spots, dry edges, tears, or other aesthetic imperfections resulting from growth, handling, transport, or acclimatization, without affecting the plant's viability.
