Vanda is part of the orchid family (Orchidaceae) which, although not large (approximately 50 species), is highly appreciated in horticulture for its colorful, long-lasting and intensely colored flowers. The vanda is widespread in East Asia, Southeast Asia and New Guinea, with a few species extending into Queensland and some of the islands of the Western Pacific.
