Philodendron erubescens

Philodendron erubescens is an ornamental plant from the Araceae family, valued for its glossy foliage and the reddish hues of its stems and the underside of its leaves. The plant originates from the tropical regions of Central and South America, where it grows as an epiphyte or hemiepiphyte in warm and humid forests.

Recommended growing conditions

1. Light: Prefers filtered light or partial shade. It can tolerate strong indirect light, but prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause leaf burns.

2. Soil: A well-drained mix rich in organic matter, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and shredded bark.

3. Watering: Moderate. Allow the surface of the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Excess water can lead to root rot.

4. Humidity and temperature: Philodendron erubescens thrives in an environment with moderate to high humidity and warm temperatures, avoiding severe cold.

5. Fertilizing: A balanced fertilizer is recommended during the active growing period (spring-summer), about once every two to three weeks, in moderate doses.
