Hoya benitotanii is an accepted botanical species, published in 2010, native to the Philippines. The foliage is thick, glossy, ovate-lanceolate, and green at maturity. It has circulated as IML 1830 and was sold for a time as Hoya gigantanganensis; the two names remain separate accepted species. The gallery shows butter-yellow umbels, with the corolla twisted backward and a lighter corona. The flowers are fragrant. The growth habit is vining. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage. The foliage in this lot is thick, glossy, ovate-lanceolate, with subtle veins. The lot is young, with few leaves. On the specimen shown in the photo, the blades are already green, without a red flush. The red coloration of new shoots mentioned in horticultural descriptions is not guaranteed on every plant.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are small, with a butter-yellow corolla twisted backward and a star-shaped, pale-yellow corona. The product’s main image shows a dense umbel of this type. They are fragrant; we do not assign a single definitive scent note. Their duration on the plant is several days, and flowering is not guaranteed for the current lot. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Identity. The accepted name is Hoya benitotanii Kloppenb., published in 2010. The type material was collected by David Bicknell at Matutinao, Badian, Cebu. Hoya gigantanganensis Kloppenb. is a separate accepted species, native to Leyte. IML 1830 is the commercial clone that circulated under the old label, including the shortened spelling gigantangensis. The title remains unchanged.

Approximate height, including the pot: 15 cm. The decorative pot is not included in the price.

Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium – SG Mix.
