Described in 1916 by Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Kraenzlin, as a botanical species of the genus Epidendrum, native to Peru and Ecuador (where it was described as being common in the humid mountain forests of the Pomochas region and along the upper reaches of the Amazon basin and Oriental Cordillera), with a compact habit, frequent, excessive and long flowering, lasting 6 weeks - 3 months, easy to maintain in room conditions, suitable for mounting in terrariums, Epidendrum capricornu prefers cooler locations, with temperatures between (11 ) 16 and 24 (26)°C, but it is relatively amphitolerant in terms of humidity, accepting wide limits, between 40 - 80%, probably a reminiscence of native populated habitats, in mountainous areas, with altitudes between 1700 and 2750 m.
