Catasetum expansum 'Yellow Star'
Catasetum expansum - large, spectacular epiphytic botanical species, which grows in variable temperature conditions, from hot to cool, originating in northeastern Ecuador, in dry forests at altitudes of 20 to 1500 meters. This plant has pseudobulbs in the shape of a spindle, bearing several lanceolate, folded and falling leaves. It can bloom from May to December on an arched basal inflorescence, 30 cm long, with 6+ flowers, which appears on a newly formed pseudobulb and can bear either male or female flowers. The flowers have a distinct fragrance, with different aromas day and night.
Note: Flowers naturally show color variations.
