Alocasia princeps 'Purple Cloak' is a variety of Alocasia belonging to the Araceae family. It is known for its large, arrow-shaped leaves, which have a dark green shade on the upper side and a purplish tint on the underside. The leaf texture is often velvety, adding an extra element of visual interest.
This tropical plant is native to Southeast Asia and prefers high humidity conditions. The ideal soil is well-drained. Like other Alocasias, 'Purple Cloak' thrives best in strong indirect light but can tolerate a wider range of light conditions, from partly shaded to very bright.
Watering should be done moderately; the soil should dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Fertilizing is done regularly during the growing season, using a balanced fertilizer.
