Agave belongs to the Agavaceae family, native to Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. Its name comes from the Greek word "αγαυος," which means admirable. In India, agave was considered the "miracle tree" and was even revered, as legend says it is a gift from the gods to people.
It is a perennial, succulent plant with fibrous, long, narrow, opaque leaves, the edges of which are protected by small spines. They are arranged in the shape of an open rosette with a blue-gray color.
It blooms at the age of 10-15 years. The flowers are yellow-green and can reach up to 9 centimeters in length. Agave americana dies after flowering.
