Clivia miniata, commonly known as the House Lily or Red Lily, is one of the most noble and resilient indoor plants. It is famous for its ability to bloom spectacularly in shady places where other plants would not survive. With its dark green, glossy foliage arranged in a fan shape and generous clusters of trumpet-shaped orange flowers, Clivia brings a touch of exoticism and color to any decor.

🌿 Botanical characteristics:

  • Genus: Clivia

  • Family: Amaryllidaceae

  • Origin: South Africa (subtropical forests)

  • Foliage: Long, fleshy, shiny dark green leaves that grow overlapping in a fan shape

  • Flowers: Spectacular inflorescence consisting of 10-20 orange flowers with yellow centers, supported by a thick stem; flowers last a long time

  • Roots: Has fleshy, thick roots capable of storing water, making it drought-resistant

☀️ Growing conditions:

  • Light: It is the queen of shade! Prefers indirect light or partial shade. Keep it strictly away from direct midday sun, which will immediately burn its leaves. Ideal for north-facing windows.

  • Watering: Moderate. Allow the soil to dry almost completely between waterings. Its roots are sensitive to excess water and can rot easily if water stagnates.

  • Temperature: Tolerates typical indoor temperatures well.

  • The secret to flowering: To bloom year after year, Clivia needs a winter rest period (approx. 6-8 weeks) in a cooler place (10-15°C) with very reduced watering.

💚 Advantages and uses:

  • Longevity: It is a "long-distance" plant that can live for decades, becoming richer and more spectacular over time

  • Ideal for offices: Because it tolerates neglect and lower light, it is perfect for office spaces

  • Air purifier: Helps clean the air in the room

Toxicity: Clivia contains alkaloids and is toxic if ingested. Keep it away from curious pets (cats/dogs) and small children.

Tip: Clivia likes to be "crowded." Do not move it to a pot that is too large, as it flowers better when its roots fill all the available space. Also, do not move the pot once it starts forming the flower stalk, as the buds may fall off.

Height including pot: approx. 30-40 cm

Note: color variations may occur depending on growing conditions.
