Calathea Warscewiczii
Calathea warscewiczii is a remarkable tropical houseplant, prized for its velvety leaves and spectacular patterns.
Main features:
• Leaves: large, oval, velvety to the touch. The upper side is deep green, with a feather-like pattern or lighter stripes. The underside of the leaf is a dark burgundy, almost burgundy.
• Growth: the plant forms dense bushes. In pots, it can reach 60-90 cm in height and width.
• Flowering: under ideal conditions, it can produce creamy-white or slightly pinkish, cone-shaped flowers, but it is generally grown for its decorative foliage.
• Light: Prefers bright indirect light. Tolerates lower light, but in too bright light the leaves may turn pale or suffer burns.
• Watering: The substrate should be kept evenly moist, but not soaked. Watering with chlorine-free water or rainwater is recommended.
• Temperature: ideally between 18°C and 27°C . It cannot tolerate temperatures below 15°C .
• Humidity: Needs high humidity (over 60%). In dry air the leaves may turn brown at the edges. Regular spraying or use of a humidifier is recommended.
• Soil: well-drained substrate rich in organic matter, ideally a mixture for tropical plants.
• Toxicity: considered non-toxic to pets (safe for cats and dogs).
Additional tips:
• Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
• Wipe the leaves periodically with a soft, damp cloth to maintain a healthy appearance and help the plant breathe better.
Calathea is a plant sensitive to temperature differences. The plants in this batch have defects on the leaves, but these do not affect the viability of the plant.
