Astrophytum ornatum

Astrophytum ornatum is a remarkable succulent cactus native to Mexico, known for its columnar shape and distinctive white stripe patterns covering the plant's surface. It is one of the largest representatives of the Astrophytum genus and is valued both for its decorative appearance and its resilience in harsh environmental conditions.

The flowers appear at the top of the cactus and are pale yellow, with a diameter of about 5-6 cm. They bloom in summer and are followed by small fruits covered with fine hairs.

Care:

• Light: Astrophytum ornatum prefers direct sunlight. It is important that it receives enough light to grow healthily and bloom.
• Soil: It requires well-drained soil, preferably a special mix for cacti, with added sand or gravel to ensure efficient drainage.
• Watering: Watering should be moderate, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. During winter, the plant should be watered sparingly to prevent root rot.
• Temperature: It is a plant resistant to high temperatures but must be protected from frost. The ideal temperature for growth is between 20-30°C.
• Fertilizing: It is recommended to use a fertilizer for cacti during the active growth period, spring and summer, applied once a month.
