Trichocereus terscheckii is an impressive columnar cactus native to the arid and semiarid regions of Argentina, where it can become one of the dominant plants in the landscape. Also popularly known as Cardon Grande, it is appreciated for its massive blue-green stems, well-defined ribs, and robust spines, which give it a spectacular architectural appearance.

Young plants initially grow as a single column, while mature specimens can branch and reach impressive dimensions in their natural habitat. At maturity, it produces large, white, funnel-shaped flowers, characteristic of many South American columnar cacti.

🌞 Growing conditions:

• Light: prefers direct sunlight and a very bright position. Specimens previously grown in protected conditions must be gradually acclimatized to strong sunlight.
• Substrate: mineral, porous, and very well drained. Water stagnation around the roots must be avoided.
• Watering: moderate to reduced during the growing period; the substrate should be allowed to dry out between waterings. During the cold season, watering should be reduced considerably.
• Temperature: tolerates high temperatures and significant differences between day and night. Mature specimens can also tolerate below-freezing temperatures in dry conditions, but hardiness depends on acclimatization, frost duration, and substrate moisture. Young plants and those grown in pots must be protected from severe frost.
• Fertilization: during the active growing period, it can be fertilized moderately with a product intended for cacti and succulents.
